 National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) Announced by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India on 15th August 2020.

 ABDM Launched nationwide on 27th September 2021.

 Vision to create a National Digital Health Eco-system that supports universal health coverage.

 The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has formulated the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission with the aim to provide the necessary support for the integration of digital health infrastructure in the country.

 National Health Authority (NHA) has been entrusted with the role of designing strategy, building technological infrastructure and implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

 Its aim is to establish a National Digital Health Ecosystem by creating an online platform enabling interoperability of health data within the health ecosystem.

 It also aims to create longitudinal electronic health record of citizens & facilitate delivery of health services through this Digital Health Ecosystem.

NHA has introduced QR-Code based solution in ABDM empaneled facilities to enable patients to scan QR code of the facility and share their demographic details and health records. This minimizes the problem of long queues at health facilities and entry of incomplete and inaccurate data.

scan them using their smartphones for faster OPD registration.

A Microsite is a focused region comprising of all small-medium sized healthcare facilities such as clinics, hospitals, labs, pharmacies within that area, which may be on-boarded onto the ABDM ecosystem

Currently Uttarakhand is running 7 microsites (Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham singh Nagar, Haldwani) with the help of Interfacing Agency and Development partner (Dhanus healthcare & AMS).

To give further boost to digital health transactions in the country, it has been decided by the NHA to incentivize the stakeholders (Hospitals, Diagnostic Facilities/ Labs, Digital Solution Companies, Insurance Provider of the digital health ecosystem.

ABDM intends to support different healthcare facilities like clinics, diagnostic centers, hospitals, and laboratories in adopting the ABDM ecosystem to make available the benefits of digital health for all the citizens of India.

To give further boost to digital health transactions in the country, it has been decided by the NHA to incentivize the stakeholders of the digital health ecosystem.

Benefits will be provided to the health facilities only for transactions done by them above the base level of transactions (i.e. only the transactions above the threshold).

1. Lady X comes from a town 100 km away to an ABDM Compliant hospital to see a Gynaecologist. She has a breastfeeding child and is unable to stand in a queue.

2. She doesn’t have a smartphone, but she has an ABHA Card which can be scanned at the hospital’s OPD registration counter through the QR reader.

3. In case, she doesn’t have an ABHA card, she is redirected to the ABHA generation counter and ABHA card is created either through biometric or face authentication.

4. Post this, patient’s basic details needed for OPD registration are shared with the hospital. A few follow up questions regarding health issues are asked at the counter and with the OPD slip she is sent to the respective gynaecology department of the hospital.
