Dr. M.P. Arya (full name: Dr. Mahendra Pal Arya Gangwar, born 1958) is a dedicated Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh, currently serving as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Nawabganj constituency in Bareilly district. He represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and won the seat in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections with a strong margin, securing 1,11,113 votes.
Son of Dori Lal, Dr. Arya hails from a modest background in Nawabganj, Bareilly — a region known for its agricultural roots and vibrant rural life. Before entering full-time politics, he earned his doctorate (hence the “Dr.” prefix), reflecting his commitment to education and self-improvement. He blends academic insight with grassroots connect, often seen addressing local issues like farming challenges, education, healthcare, and rural infrastructure.

Imagine a young man growing up amid the sugarcane fields and bustling markets of Bareilly, watching his father toil under the sun. Education became his ladder out of hardship. Years of study led him to a doctorate — not just a degree, but a symbol of perseverance. “Knowledge is the real weapon for change,” he often tells young students during his village tours.
In 2022, when BJP gave him the ticket from Nawabganj, it wasn’t just another election. Dr. Arya campaigned door-to-door, sharing stories from his own life. One memorable moment came during a heated rally:
A skeptical farmer shouted, “Politicians come with promises and leave with votes — what makes you different?”
Dr. Arya paused, looked straight at him, and replied with a smile:
“Main bhi kisaan ka beta hoon, aur yeh zameen meri maa hai. Jab tak yeh khet hariyali se bhare rahenge, main yahaan se kahin nahi jaunga. Aapke dukh-dard mere dil mein hain — ab vote nahi, saath maang raha hoon badlaav ke liye!”
(Translation: “I am also a farmer’s son, and this land is my mother. As long as these fields remain green, I won’t go anywhere. Your pains are in my heart — now I’m not asking for votes, but for companionship in bringing change!”)
The crowd erupted in cheers. That raw honesty, combined with his BJP affiliation during the party’s strong wave, helped him defeat established rivals from SP and BSP.
Life as an MLA: Grounded and Relatable
Since becoming MLA, Dr. Arya has focused on practical improvements — better irrigation for farmers, upgraded schools, and health camps in remote villages. He stays connected through social media and his Facebook page (Dr. MP Arya), where he shares updates in Hindi, often with a personal touch.
Colleagues describe him as soft-spoken yet firm — a doctor of philosophy who now “heals” community issues. In a world of flashy politics, Dr. Arya stands out as the quiet, determined worker from the heartland, proving that real change starts with listening to the soil and its people.
From a scholar’s desk to the assembly floor, his journey reminds us: Great leaders aren’t born in palaces — they rise from the fields, armed with education and empathy. 🇮🇳
