Why not a medical college to serve Uttarakhand’s people?” Inspired, Mahant ji dove into the idea, studying medical texts and visiting institutions like LLRM Medical College in Meerut to understand the requirements.

This vision laid the foundation for the Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences and Shri Mahant Indresh (SMI) Hospital. After years of planning, the medical college and hospital were established in the heart of Dehradun in the early 2000s. Tragically, Mahant Indresh Charan Das ji passed away before seeing the project fully realized, but his successor, Shri Mahant Devendra Charan Das ji, carried the torch forward. The SMI Hospital, named in tribute to Mahant Indresh ji, became a lifeline for millions, offering affordable healthcare, while the medical college grew into one of the region’s most respected institutions.
