NABH

Yes, NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) has dedicated accreditation programmes specifically for clinics in India.

Main options for clinics

  1. Allopathic Clinics Accreditation Programme (most relevant for regular OPD / polyclinics)
  • Designed for outpatient allopathic clinics and polyclinics (with or without limited day-care facilities, but no overnight stay).
  • Current version: 2nd Edition (released September 2023; full implementation from July 2024 onward).
  • Covers quality, patient safety, infection control, medication management, documentation, etc.
  • Eligibility: Clinic must be operational and must have implemented the standards for at least 3 months before applying.
  • Exclusions: Pure non-allopathic systems, standalone single-specialty centres such as pure dental, pure eye, or pure imaging centres (these have their own programmes).
  • Certificate validity: 4 years (with assessments).
  1. Other clinic-specific programmes
  • Dental Healthcare Service Providers / Dental Clinics
  • Eye Care Organizations
  • Panchakarma Clinics (AYUSH)
  • Entry-Level Certification options (lighter version for smaller setups)
  1. Small Healthcare Organisation (SHCO) Accreditation
  • For facilities with up to 50 beds (nursing homes, small hospitals, day-care centres with beds).
  • Not ideal for pure OPD clinics without beds. Polyclinics and pure diagnostic centres are generally excluded from SHCO.
