Dr. Mohinder Nath Passey (M.N. Passey; 1934 – 30 May 2002) was an Indian physician and rheumatologist who served as an honorary physician to the President of India. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 1991.

Born in 1934 (in Lahore, then part of undivided India; the family later settled in Gwalior after Partition), he completed his medical graduation and postgraduate degree in medicine from Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior. He began his career as Medical Registrar at Irwin Hospital (now Lok Nayak Hospital) in Delhi.

In 1964 he joined Hindu Rao Hospital as a medical specialist. He remained there for more than two decades, rising to become Consultant and Head of the Department of Medicine before retiring in 1985. Hindu Rao Hospital, which primarily served patients from economically weaker sections of society, became the main focus of his professional life. After superannuation he continued clinical practice at Mahalaxmi Hospital until his death.

Dr. Passey specialised in internal medicine with a particular interest in rheumatology. He was known for his dedication to clinical care, especially for underprivileged patients, and for his straightforward, patient-centred approach. He also served as an honorary physician to the President of India.

In recognition of his contributions to medicine and public service, he was conferred the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, in 1991.

Dr. Mohinder Nath Passey passed away on 30 May 2002. He is remembered as a committed clinician who spent the greater part of his career serving patients at a major public hospital in Delhi and advancing the practice of rheumatology and internal medicine in India.
