Dr. Shrinivas S. Vaishya (born 7 January 1947) is an Indian physician known for his long service in public health administration, particularly in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Shri in 2012.

Born in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, he graduated in medicine (MBBS) from Goa Medical College in 1973 and later obtained his MD from Government Medical College, Surat.

He began his career as a local officer in the Department of Health and Medical Services of Daman and Diu and served there for 33 years. He rose to become the first Director of Medical and Health Services for the Union Territory and later served as Special Secretary of Health and Medical Services—the first officer appointed to that post covering Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

During his tenure he is credited with modernising health facilities in the region. Under his leadership the infant mortality rate in Daman and Diu fell to 14 per 1,000 live births, bringing it on par with the national average at the time.

Dr. Vaishya’s work focused on strengthening primary and secondary healthcare infrastructure, improving access for local communities, and raising overall public-health standards in a relatively small Union Territory. His administrative efforts and commitment to service earned him national recognition through the Padma Shri in 2012.

He remains associated with healthcare initiatives and is remembered for quietly transforming medical services in Daman and Diu through dedicated public service rather than high-profile clinical practice.
