Born in Karnal with his schooling from St. Theresa’s Convent School where he topped in most curricular & extracurricular activities.
He did his pre medical from KUK university which he topped with a then record breaking 87%. He did his MBBS from A.I.I.M.S. New Delhi, followed by M.D. in general medicine from the same institute. After a stint as a CMO at AIIMS he shifted to Karnal to start his own practice. He is one of the very few AIIMSonians to be running a private practice in a small town in India. Hospital Amritdhara Karnal has been a work of dedication hard work and team spirit led by Dr. Rajiv Gupta.
Always believing in leading by example he has set exemplary standards of punctuality, hard work and fairness in his dealing with colleagues, staff, & patients.
A strong believer in technology he was one of the first ones in Karnal to own a computer way back in 1988 and he dedicated one full month to learning programming in Dbase & c & even now the entire hospital management system of Hospital Amritdhara is run by software totally developed & upgraded by Dr. Rajiv Gupta.
Amritdhara is one of the few hospital where several specialists of a single specialty work together as a team in order to improve the quality of patients’ health and also of their own lives. Here at Amritdhara we believe in quality. Religious & personal functions, for example birthdays of all staff members are celebrated in the same manner.
A very keen sportsman DR. Rajiv Gupta has been the Gold medalist in carom & Table tennis in IMA Karnal for the last 20 years and has also been regular in the cricket team and also setup the IMA Karnal Cricket Club.
As president of IMA Karnal in 2005, his term was marked with innovations and new way of looking after the interests of doctors specially in the wake of increasing assault on doctors. He was awarded medal for the best president for the year 2005-06. A keen follower of extra-curricular activities. Dr. Rajiv Gupta with a core group of friends named & started PULSE at AIIMS in 1978 which is now the biggest cultural festival all over the country. He has always looked after the rights of students & fellow doctors and spent time with the student union leaders at AIIMS guiding them & helping them during their difficult anti reservation agitation in 2005. His family is completed by his mother, wife Jyoti, daughter Dhvani (IIT Delhi & IIM Ahmedabad) now married to Abhishek and son Dhruv (completed MBBS from UCMS, New Delhi)
