• Supreme Court says Hospitals have become a real estate industry paying scant attention to treating patients.

• Hospitals are meant to provide succour to patients in distress, but it is widely felt that they have become money minting machines, which fleece patients.

• Supreme Court tells Gujarat Govt that it should take care to withdraw the July 8 notification giving relaxation to hospitals, which have violated building bye-laws, or face stern action from the Supreme Court.
